Parent Governor

Dear Parent/Carer,

We have a vacancy on the John Perryn Primary School Governing Body and

I am writing to invite you to think about becoming a Parent Governor.

Parent Governors have to have a registered child at the school at the time of election, but can continue to the end of their 4 year term if their child leaves. In this context "parent" includes anybody with parental responsibilities for a child at the school.

Parent Governors play a key role in setting the direction for the school and raising standards for the children. With other Governors, they regularly meet the Head Teacher and other staff to make important decisions and to monitor progress. This involves two or three meetings each term, usually during evenings at 6.30pm. Committee Meetings happen in the school day. Training sessions and online training are available free to new Governors and experienced Governors are always willing to assist new colleagues.
